Carr master bath AFTER

Outmoded to à la Mode

Before After

Last week I shared a blog about a beautiful kitchen that was up there, waaayyyy up there. Today I would like to tell you about a stunning master bath. Just before the completion of their beautiful kitchen, our wonderful clients came to me about their plan to remodel their master bath. And they knew exactly how they wanted to update their master en suite. The original bathroom was fully functional for Dwayne and his wife Donna, but the look was a bit dated for their taste. A more modern and sophisticated aesthetic was their goal. The homeowners had a good idea of the colors and materials they wanted to use and communicated it well to me.

As the floor plan shown in the “before” photograph, the layout stayed the same, with all of the key components and walls remaining in the same location. One structural modification that was to be made was the removal of the soffits above both vanities and shower, to open up the space and make the ceiling taller. Dwayne, being talented and knowledgeable, was able to do a lot of the work himself.

The “after” photo shows the removed soffit, fluorescent light tubes with Plexiglas covers gone, and the wallpaper removed. The walls were painted, new floating vanities, countertops, flooring, faucets, and under-mount sinks were added.

Our clients wanted floating vanities to provide a beautiful focal point for their space while being functional. They wanted large, stacked drawers on each side of the vanity sink cabinets, along with a three-drawer cabinet in the center to provide generous storage space. Some key benefits to having this type of vanity, aside from the aesthetics were to make this bathroom appear more spacious and make it easier to clean the floors.

The gray and white tile provides a stark contrast to the original wallpapered room. The large minimalist tile created a modern feel while keeping a classic look to coordinate with the rest of the home.

A frameless fixed glass wall with no shower door was a chosen feature by Dwayne and Donna to replace the dated framed bypass shower door. They wanted to showcase the gorgeous tile and large rain shower head. In the corner of the fashionable shower is a large, 2-tier shampoo niche, perfect for soaps and bottles. A small corner seat is a perfect place for Donna to sit while shaving her legs. The sleek linear floor tiles were used as vertical shower wall tiles to compliment the room.

The first photo in the slider above displays “Grey Echo” Metropolitan, a full overlay flat panel door style, from Eclipse Cabinetry which is a modern upgrade from the original laminate cabinets used in the previous master suite. The thermally fused horizontal wood grain laminate has a sleek detail that really ties this space together for a cohesive look. The second photo (with all the other lights off) shows the difference the under-cabinet LED lighting makes. Dwayne had these beautiful and functional under-cabinet lights strategically placed on a separate light switch.

The completed master bath is now a modern, sleek, and sophisticated, just as Dwayne and Donna imagined it would be. The neutral scheme of the bathroom itself will allow for an easy change in décor if desired, while still maintaining a clean, timeless look for years to come.

Dwayne and Donna are extremely happy with the completed remodel. I was thrilled that this room turned out so beautifully! Kudos to Just Counters & other stuff team member who brought this project to life: Ben Hanson. He did another superb job installing the cabinets.
