Sally after

A Relaxing and Peaceful Weekend Getaway

Before After

Although our client, a native from Akron, Ohio has lived in Florida for 30-plus years, Sally purchased a villa in 2017, in the beautiful gated community located in the heart of Port Charlotte. Every time I drive to this prestigious and beautiful gated community that’s tucked away in one of Port Charlotte’s best neighborhoods, I fall in love with its entrance. Lush foliage Florida landscaping and live shaded Oak trees line the streets. It feels like Sally’s new home is in the country but it’s not. In fact it’s within easy walking distance to Publix, the YMCA, doctors, restaurants, or stores.

I noticed something unexpected the minute I walked through the front door of Sally’s home. It had impressive tall ceilings with a nice and bright open floor plan. There was an enclosed screened lanai with glass sliders off the living room area. With a peaceful lanai of this size, I can only imagine how relaxing it would be to enjoy that first cup of coffee in the morning with warm Florida breezes. The villa had good bones but needed some help in the style department. It’s amazing what a few smart touches can do. An open floor plan is always nice, but when it has old-fashioned ceramic floor tiles, it’s hard to separate the good from the bad. Color Tile Carpets Plus did a great job when they installed rich warm brown laminate wood planks that mimic the look of hardwood over the ceramic tiles throughout the home.

Structurally the kitchen, with a cozy breakfast nook with lots of windows, remains the same. But simple switches like swapping the dated cabinets and countertops made a huge difference aesthetically. We used white Shaker-style cabinets from Aspect Cabinetry and Cambria’s Berwyn for the countertops. Berwyn’s dense and earthy shades of cream, gray, and taupe perfectly complement this kitchen’s neutral accents. In my personal opinion, this is one of my favorite countertops from Cambria. This particular color of quartz has a gorgeous sparkle. I’m not kidding. The countertop looks like there’s itty bitty diamonds randomly scattered all over. Cambria is awesome to maintain. You do nothing! Soap and water. That’s it. No sealing, no polishing, no issues.

Pucci Tile and Marble, Inc. did a fantastic job installing the new soft gray ceramic backsplash which brightens the room and adds some depth to the space. The entire team at Just Counters & other stuff did an amazing job, not only with the kitchen, but also with the guest bathroom and master bedroom en suite.

All the choices that were made to complete this renovation turned this villa into a beautiful tropical paradise. A relaxing and peaceful “weekend getaway” — that’s exactly what it felt like when I visited Sally’s private retreat. But there was one clue that this could not have been right. It was only Wednesday, but I still enjoyed the weekend vibes.
