At the time this blog was written it was still uncertain where we would be by summer. Well, there’s no need to speculate on the New Normal, because, well, we’re now living in it.
Once upon a time our client had a plan. A sweet client, Judy purchased a condo with the intention of renovating it for a family member. We all experience roadblocks in life, and things don’t always go according to plan. That’s what happened to Judy. But let’s back up just a wee bit here because the condo didn’t always look like this. No siree.
Offering expert tips, advice, and inspiration I can create the dream kitchen you’ve always wanted, and you will look forward to cooking in it. I always provide an ear first, listening to the wants and needs of our clients. I work for our clients and I remember that each and every day. Without our clients, we would have no business. So…Judy wanted to know if I could drop by to access the situation.
The situation, like many older condos, was quite grim. The cramped and chaotic 80’s kitchen had inexpensive melamine cabinetry with wood trim and hideous blue Formica laminate countertops. It lacked of storage and organization. As the heart of the home, a kitchen deserves to be noticed. However, in this case it was the most frequented room in the house, because it was the first room you enter when you come through the door! Judy had some ideas of what she wanted done, but she also wanted to add some personal character for this kitchen. So, we put our heads together to figure out a way to make the existing square footage work better not only to the kitchen, but also to the bathroom. We sat down together and hashed through some plans. We drew up countless layouts until we arrived at one that seemed to truly make sense.

So without further ado, let’s talk about the finished kitchen that I’m absolutely crazy for. The 80’s kitchen is finally gone, and in its place is a bright and cheery space! The new crisp white Shaker-style cabinets are absolutely beautiful. The cabinet doors and drawers close slowly and quietly. We kicked the kitchen up a notch with clever storage. The new freestanding slate refrigerator sits between two tall pantry units. Judy chose to go with exceptional quality when she selected Cambria’s Berkeley, American-made quartz countertops. She used hexagon tile for the backsplash which looks as stunning up close as it does from the great room. These backsplash tiles add much more depth, character, and detail than standard subway tile. Cabinet hardware is the jewelry of the kitchen, so just like in a wardrobe; it must coordinate, be comfortable, and enhance the design of the outfit. Judy made another excellent choice!
The new chic bathroom features the same crisp white Shaker-style cabinetry as the kitchen, with his and her under-mounted porcelain sinks, Cambria countertop and a tall wall cabinet situated between the two sinks. Judy selected large porcelain tile on the floor, which was installed throughout the entire condo.
Just Counter’s conscientious installer, Ben Hanson, performed another wonderful job. So did the other teams: Coral Coast Construction, Pucci Tile, and Imex stone.
But here’s the deal. It so happens that this beautiful, fully renovated condo didn’t work out for Judy’s relative. So, she put it on the market to sell. It didn’t take too long to sell. And I’m not a bit surprised. Every year, the Sunshine State attracts thousands of newcomers to its sandy shores – and it’s not hard to see why. From the lack of state income tax to the sunny weather, there are plenty of reasons to love calling Florida home. Its diverse population, delectable food and many theme parks and attractions also make it a particularly interesting place to live.
Now all this new condo owner needs to do is pack his clothes, his toothbrush, and his checkbook. His checkbook? Yes, his checkbook is very important. He may want to buy new golf clubs or a boat.
Until next week, stay safe.
